Glendale Real estate Information
A suburban town that was home to nearly 5,000 residents as of 2000 estimates, Glendale, Colorado, is conveniently located just outside of the city of Denver, just five miles south in an exclave of Arapahoe County. Glendale, a town with a total area of exactly one square mile, is surrounded on each side by the city and county of Denver, making it a popular home for those who must commute in to Denver for work, school or other activities. Glendale is just south of City Park, the largest park in Denver, and residents of the town flock to the park to enjoy the sunny Colorado skies.
Glendale got its beginning in the 1800s as a rest stop and watering hole along the Cherry Creek Trail stagecoach route. Since then it has evolved into a modern yet small city, and the Cherry Creek Trail still a popular route, though now with walkers, runners and bikers rather than those on horseback.
The town is still in the process of completing Infinity Park, a large mixed-use municipal space that once completed will include a 35,000-square-foot recreation and sports center, a park and the first municipal U.S. Rugby Stadium, to be home of the town's nationally ranked rugby team, the Glendale Raptors. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is located in the town, drawing some public-sector workers. Located in or near Glendale are such medical facilities as the Rose Medical Center and the University of Colorado Hospital. There are six hotels and/or extended-stay residences in town. Glendale is a renter's haven, with about 90 percent of the city's resident renting apartments, while the remaining residents own the townhouse and condominium units. There are only a handful of private homes in the city.
Glendale's school operate under the Cherry Creek School District, which includes Holly Hills and Holly Ridge Primary Schools, West Middle School and Cherry Creek High School. College courses can be taken at Denver Technical College. In the summer, the city's annual fireworks show in July draws thousands of visitors. Golfers can enjoy the nearby Denver Country Club, and nearly all kinds of retail outlets can be found at Cherry Creek Shopping Center. The city is also home to Four Mile Historic Park, a 12-acre site that is home to the city of Denver's oldest house, Four Mile House.
