Centennial Real Estate Information
A home-rule city located in Arapahoe County, the city of Centennial, Colorado, is the 10th-largest city in the state by population size, with 2005 estimates putting the population right around 100,000. Centennial is around 28 square miles in area, and was just recently incorporated, in 2001, from parts the county not previously incorporated, to prevent Greenwood Village from annexing it. Because the official city is still so new, many area residents still refer to it by the names of surrounding communities, like Littleton and Aurora.
Centennial is south of Englewood and east of Littleton, and lies just west of its namesake, Centennial Airport, which operates three runways. The city is quickly growing and establishing its own rituals and customs, with a few annual events already underway. Residents celebrate a Centennial Spring Fling, the Centennial Relay for Life, Centennial Night at the Movies and Celebrate Centennial Under the Stars, with new events being concocted every year.
Most students who lives within the confines of Centennial who attend public schools will attend those in the Cherry Creek Public Schools and Littleton Public Schools districts. There are also several private schooling options within the region. Centennial is known in the area as the home to the Denver Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is also the home to the international headquarters for the Gamma Phi Beta sorority.
There are at least a dozen hospitals in or nearby the city, ensuring residents have easily ready access available to health care. There are more than 1,000 restaurants, cafes and stores in operation in the city, which contributes to its vibrancy and economy while also offering residents lots of options. The city is also situated between Southglenn Mall and Arapahoe Village Shopping Center, and just north of South Suburban Golf Course, with a scattering of other golf courses all about the area.
